BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra are inviting listeners to download all the BBC clips available under the terms of the Creative Archive Licence and build a mix from them. The best mix will win VJ equipment and the winner will VJ live to a mix of their choice on these radio stations.
The competition will run throughout September at the Radio 1 and 1Xtra Superstar VJs sites. Mixes must be three minutes long and backed to a mix of unsigned music from OneMusic. The quality of the music mix is unimportant and will not be judged upon.
Mixes must be received by the end of the closing day, October 10th 2005 and will be judged by a panel to include Radio 1 DJ Annie Mac, 1Xtra DJ L Double and professional VJ Tomas Roope from Tomato.
The winner will be announced at the end of October and can choose their prize, £250 worth of VJing equipment which the BBC will order for them. The second part of the prize is to VJ live along to a mix of the winner’s choice on BBC Radio 1 or 1Xtra. This mix will be streamed live and, subject to music rights, be available on demand for seven days.
A selection of the best mixes will go online along with an example mix.
