It is the BBC's aim to make the release of its content an open and transparent process, including close consultation with a range of stakeholder and industry groups.
For the past year, the BBC has been working with an External Panel which has included representatives from the British Library, the National Archives, the National Museum for Science and Industry, the Natural History Museum, Channel 4, the British Film Institute, ITN Ltd, JISC (the Higher Education broadband network), Wall to Wall Productions, BBC Worldwide and Museums, Libraries and Archives.
The work of this panel will now be taken over by a new Consultative Panel, which will advise the newly formed Creative Archive Licence Group. The membership and terms of reference of this new Consultative Panel are currently being drafted. Its membership will be drawn from broadcasters, creators and curators of moving image and audio content, and from organisations representing users of such content, as well as from supporting professions. The Creative Archive Licence Group would welcome any views on the membership and terms of reference.
