Open University

The Open University is the UK’s only university dedicated to distance learning. It promotes educational opportunity and social justice by providing high quality university education to anyone who wants to follow their ambitions and fulfil their potential. Through academic research, innovation and partnership, it seeks to be a world leader in supported open and distance learning.

The University has around 150,000 undergraduate and more than 30,000 postgraduate students. 10,000 of the students have disabilities. Nearly all students are studying part-time, with about 70 per cent of undergraduate students in full-time employment. More than 50,000 students are sponsored by their employers for their studies. The University itself is ranked among the top UK universities for the quality of its teaching.
